Devin Townsend-Accelerated EvoFew people can embody brilliance. However, one man has thoroughly proved that musical innovation still exists, and that it's progressive if anything. Canadian madman Devin Townsend's latest release, "Accelerated Evolution," proves that perfection indeed progresses into higher levels as times goes on. Not to mention, he wrote this while writing "SYL" by Strapping Young Lad, and coupled with his brilliant production only gives this CD a higher appeal.   
You can tell some SYL has crept into Devin's writing methods with the opening track, "Depth Charge." Complete with a blossoming synth backdrop, the opener immediately blazes into flig Devin Townsend-Accelerated Evo

Darkane - Rusted AngelEvery now and then, stagnation beckons a force needed to rewrite what already is. For Death Metal, it's Darkane. The brainchild of guitarist Malmstrom, coupled with current The Defaced and Terror 2000 guitarist Ideberg, Darkane are one of the most unique of Death Metal bands, coupling lightning-fast, breakneck riffs wih Melodic hooks that will leave you nothing but a stunned mass after hearing it.   
This CD on the whole is a complete Melodic assault. The creepy intro melds classical music with a guitar solo, then slams full-force into the Thrashy song "Convicted," a prime example of mixing technicality with Melody almost flawlessly Darkane - Rusted Angel

A Very Metal Thanksgiving

I wish Deviantart had the ability to upload soundclips. Let's face it, spoken essays and beat poems would be cool, not to mention, what about the soundclips that are art? I guess it'd use too much bandwidth, though. Anyway, I've spent all night developing a solo I'm working on for a song. Two of them have been uploaded, and I'll link to them.

The first is a draft, so to speak. The second is what it's progressiong into, and I'm pretty happy with it. The first is longer, with more power chords, but the second has less power chords and uses alot more of some pretty insane finger-tapping and scale climbing that seems to last forever when I play it.

Anyway, my Thanksgiving was spent jamming with my cousin and hanging out with my Punk Grandfather. I took his Digital Delay pedal and added a nice Echo effect to it. Makes it sound like I'm playing guitar live.

So gimme opinions!
